AG Wilson Reports Progress in Environmental Performance and Climate Action
AG Wilson Limited has completed its latest annual environmental reporting through Business in the Community Northern Ireland's Climate Action Pledge and Northern Ireland Environmental Benchmarking Survey.
The Climate Action Pledge brings together organisations from across Northern Ireland that are committed to measuring, managing and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as part of the transition towards a net zero future. As a signatory organisation, AG Wilson remains committed to understanding its environmental impact, improving environmental performance and identifying practical opportunities to reduce emissions across its operations.
During the 2025/26 reporting period, AG Wilson reported total Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions of 946.35 tCO2e. While this represents an increase compared to our baseline year, it coincides with a period of significant business growth and increased project delivery across Northern Ireland and Scotland. The business nevertheless continued to implement carbon reduction measures and achieved a 30.92% reduction in emissions from stationary combustion sources through reduced reliance on burning oil and increased use of electricity-based processes for certain operational activities. The reporting period also saw further progress in the measurement and reporting of Scope 3 emissions, helping to build a more comprehensive understanding of emissions associated with our activities and supply chain.
As a growing civil engineering contractor delivering infrastructure projects across Northern Ireland and Scotland, AG Wilson recognises the importance of balancing increased project delivery with responsible environmental management. Environmental performance data is monitored and reviewed through the company's management systems, supporting informed decision-making and continual improvement.
Looking ahead, AG Wilson will continue to focus on:
• Improving fuel efficiency across plant, vehicles and operational activities
• Identifying further opportunities to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions
• Expanding and enhancing Scope 3 emissions reporting
• Embedding environmental considerations into business planning and project delivery
• Supporting wider industry efforts to reduce carbon emissions across the construction sector
Shauna McKay, Head of Business Operations, said:
"Accurate measurement and transparent reporting are essential to understanding our environmental impacts and identifying opportunities for improvement. While AG Wilson continues to grow and deliver critical infrastructure projects, we remain committed to strengthening our environmental performance, improving the quality of our emissions data and implementing practical measures that support long-term carbon reduction."
